Bridgeways Resource Centre

The centre is managed by a voluntary management committee made up of local people. The committee promotes community ownership and accountability and Bridgeways operates as a community development and family support project for the town and its people.

The centre develops and manages a wide variety of programmes and activities which address identified issues such as isolation, lack of facilities or amenities and physical and mental health.

Activities running from the centre at present include a low cost counselling service; a homework club for primary school children and a youth club for teenagers.

Club 91 is a social club for the elderly while there is also a local men’s group that focuses on skills sharing and community projects such as gardening for the elderly and a renovation project in town.

A parent and toddler playgroup operates allowing mothers and young children to socialise together.

We also host a Rural Transport tea morning where users of the minibus service can come together for a cup of tea and a chat.

There are also a number of physical activity classes that take place. We have a karate class for children every Monday evening; Zumba every Monday evening; and insanity exercise classes every Tuesday and Thursday evening.

There are two Irish dancing classes on a Wednesday and a Friday evening and we have ballet and hip-hop classes on a Saturday. Friday evening also sees local pet owners and their dogs attend obedience classes.

In addition to all of this, the Local History group, Residents Associations, and the Ballymahon Development Association use the centre for meetings as well. The Community Alert scheme for Ballymahon is also run from the centre.

The hall is available to rent timetable permitting and we are always open if people have any enquiries.
